A huge congratulations to the pupils from seven Acorn Education Trust Schools who took part in the 16th annual West Wilts Dance Festival after a two year break due to Covid-19:

The Clarendon Academy, Dilton Marsh Church of England primary School, Heytesbury Church of England Primary School, Kingdown School, New Close Primary School, St John’s Church of England Primary School and West Ashton Church of England (VA) Primary School.

The three-day festival, held at The Bath Forum, took place between Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th February and brought together primary, secondary and special schools from across West Wiltshire. With new Covid safety measures in place, the schools performed to an audience of over 2,300 across the three days.

Selwyn Widger, West Wilts School Sports Partnerships Organiser, who has been part of the team organising the festival for the past six years said “It has been amazing to see the children’s faces light up as they come in and see the stage for the first time. The standard of dance has been phenomenal across all the schools”

This year’s theme of ‘Back to the Future’ inspired 48 performances, including spectacular dances that used music and dance styles from different decades both past and future. Each school’s routine was developed within their curriculum PE lessons and after school club, supported by The Dance Lady Caroline Newman.

Acorn Education Trust would like to say a massive thank you for the hard work and dedication put in by all staff involved with the festival to make it such a success and for keeping our school communities safe.
